Blog – Pub Problems – That’s not my drink.

Look at that pint. A pretty standard example of a pint of Birra Moretti right? Wrong! That is in fact a pint of Cruzcampo, served in the incorrect glass. I have no idea why this boils my urine so much, but it does.

Breweries spend large amounts of money designing, testing and manufacturing the perfect glassware for their beer. To serve it in someone else’s glass seems almost disrespectful. And yes, before anyone thinks it, I know they’re both Heineken Products. Now I’m not sure if it’s little more than my own OCD that causes this. If you’re going to offer me a pint of something stick it in the appropriate glass.

Don’t get me wrong. I know it doesn’t really make that much difference. Especially as I’m enjoying a respectable lager in the glass of another respectable lager. This is the tip of the glass misuse iceberg. One of the pubs in my area, despite stocking it and selling me at least a brewers barrel of the last 12 months of the stuff have been supplied with glassware. Cruzcampo in a Fosters Glass is just wrong. Firstly I don’t sully my palate with rubbish. Secondly it’s not even close to your standard Cruzcampo Glass.

The standard Cruzcampo glass is, without doubt, one of the best beer glasses around. Popular alcohol retailer Hops And Barley ranked it top of their 2024 best beer glasses ranking. It’s not surprising. The Cruzcampo glass has just the right amount of heft. Good weight, nice balance, all that good stuff. The design is a hybrid of the modern Chalice and the Belgian style goblet. The intricate artwork really works well on it.

It may seem like I’m waxing lyrical over a glass, and in many ways I am. It’s because I’m on my next pint of Cruzcampo and it still isn’t in the right f*cking glassware!!
